Visit a 2,500-acre estate that has been family owned and operated since 1989 and still cultivates more than 50 varieties of citrus. In 2004, 21-year-old Dr.Shanta Barton-Stubbs saw a need to support youth in a neighborhood where crime, drug abuse, and homelessness are commonplace. That first summer, she started with 8 youth, $1500 of her personal savings, and a handful of used board games. Today, New Image Youth Center is a consistent presence in the lives of youth and their families -- at no cost.
NIYC is one of the longest-serving youth organizations in the Orlando-Parramore community. EDGE attendees will hear from Dr. Shanta Barton-Stubbs as an anchor speaker and will have the opportunity to participate in a service project.

In 2004, she founded New Image Youth Center, a nonprofit organization that provides academic support, social development, and health and wellness programs for at-risk youth. As an entrepreneur, she owns Under Construction Empowerment Services LLC, a firm that offers counseling, mentoring and life skills training services to adults and children. Barton-Stubbs has authored motivational books as well as The Cool Tools Kit, a resource designed to help children manage their emotions in a healthy way.
