Health and Safety

MDRT is monitoring the health and safety protocols provided by international, federal, state and local governments and agencies as they relate to COVID-19.  All EDGE attendees, speakers, meeting vendors and MDRT staff participating in the meeting must be fully vaccinated or show proof of a negative COVID-19 test that has been administered upon individual’s arrival in Philadelphia no more than 72 hours prior to badge pick-up at the EDGE Registration Desk.  “Fully vaccinated” means that an individual has received the second dose of a two-dose vaccine series (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca-SK Bio) or a single dose vaccine from Johnson & Johnson/Janssen) by October 11, 2021.   Only the vaccines noted above, which have been approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) for emergency use, shall be acceptable to meet the fully vaccinated requirement.   MDRT will also be limiting the capacity of the in-person gathering to maintain safe social distancing.
MDRT has retained the services of Vital Circle, a health care consultant, to oversee the health and safety procedures for the meeting, including COVID-19 vaccine verification.  Here’s what we are doing to protect your health and peace of mind so you can enjoy the meeting and each other.
All Participants
(includes members, speakers, meeting vendors and MDRT staff)
  • Must sign the COVID-19 Waiver at time of registration
  • Must go through daily health screening and temperature checks, Regardless of vaccination status, Vaccination status may be visible on the participant’s badge.
  • Must adhere to safety protocols that will be established for the in-person meeting including but not limited to:  social distancing at sessions and social events, mask wearing and use of hand sanitizer stations.
Fully Vaccinated Participants
Fully vaccinated participants simply upload their proof of vaccination documents to the Vital Circle secure portal no later than October 18, 2021 for verification by Vital Circle.  All digital uploads are deleted at the time of review and are not stored long term on the Vital Circle secure server.  The link to the Vital Circle secure portal will be included in your meeting registration confirmation email.  After your vaccination documentation has been verified by Vital Circle, you will receive an approval email directly from Vital Circle with your vaccine verification.  You will then present your vaccine verification at the Vital Circle screening station located on the 5th Floor Grand Ballroom, Salon I which is adjacent to the  registration area at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.
Non-Vaccinated Participants
Non-vaccinated participants must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test that has been administered upon their arrival in Philadelphia, no more than 72 hours prior to badge pick-up at the EDGE Vital Circle daily health check-in room which is located on the 5th Floor Grand Ballroom, Salon I, at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.
COVID-19 tests must be administered by a medical provider in Philadelphia,  that can provide a final negative test result report.   The cost of testing is the participant’s responsibility.
For your convenience, you may choose to have Vital Circle administer your COVID-19 test on-site at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. There are two different options, the rapid antigen test gives results in 15 minutes (cost USD 35), and the rapid PCR test gives results in 20 minutes (cost USD 129). The cost of on-site testing will be the participant’s responsibility, and payment will be due when the test is administered.  We encourage advanced registrations for your necessary COVID-19 testing needs.  Appointments are available online through the Vital Circle website.
This is a very fluid time, and it is important that we all understand that health and safety protocols may change based on local, national and global circumstances.  MDRT is committed to communication and will make every effort to keep meeting participants informed of such occurrences.
